The Avatar is the picture displayed next to your name when you post on the board. You can change it to any custom image you would like.
First open the Account Control Panel (Click Account at the top of this page) then click on the current avatar image (right under where it says "Active Profie") then you will be prompted to upload the new image. Once it has been loaded any new posts you create will show your new avatar image.
