Finished mocking up the throttle bracket. Finally came up with something that could clear the pipes. Just a quick mock up using some scrap I had, if it holds
together over the weekend I'll get some stock and make a cleaner version. It mounts directly to the carb mount with 2 8x3/16 bolts. Pretty happy with the
way it came out. The angle is just a bit too steep, and I think the cable will rub too much on the housing, but it should work for the weekend, and the
finished product will have a bit more bend to it.
Paul looks like you could move that throttle wheel to the #1 carb. That might give you a better angle. It doesnt look like you have enough travel to get wot
rite now. I would post a pic of my bracket but I cant get my post pic button to work.
It will pull all the way to WOT, I know by the pictures it doesn't look like it, but I actually had to loosen the cable at the trigger because WOT was
1/2" from the grip.
I originally pictured the cable being parallel with the linkage, made the geometry simpler, but it just won't clear the pipes.
Hey Paul you may find this useful for pipe springs. I tried msr and they wont sell direct. Looks like there might be some better lengths. The original springs
I have measure 90mm so do the latest ones I got
I looks as if a cr80 spring or kx250 might be a better fit.
Thanks, I'll check it out. Those I got are alittle on the short side. Haven't broken one yet, so thats good. However they are a pain to put on. Had one
slip out of the visegrip right as I was hooking it on the manafold. Took a good chunk out of my thumb.
thats the worst paul. i have no experince with these springs but loosing a chunk of a finger sucks and leaves one hell of a scar. i got a good chunk taken off
my pinky by one my cylinder bolts trying to pry my intake off. seemed like it was never taken off before.

I have lost alot of blood and skin to mine. I hate when you slip putting one of the springs on #3 and punch the pipe.
That is the worst. This happened on the 2nd pipe. I think this is the most blood I have sheadded on the Ultra yet.
Also had another small issue on the lake today...overheated the 2nd pipe pretty good. Was running a few guys and paying more attention to what was infront of
me (wasn't any of the other skis ) then the pissers. Backed off and
looked back to check and then 2nd one was dry. Killed it pulled the seat, and my silver pipe was golden brown. Melted the rubber cooling hose on the inlet.
And melted a piece of rubber I stick between the 2nd and 3rd pipe. The rubber is now one with the pipe. The good news is, the clamp on the 2nd cylinder head
broke and the cooling line blew off, so the engine was fine, it was getting plenty of water. Don't know about the pioe. Happened late in the evening so
haven't looked into it. Hopeing its ok, the paint only bubbled up around the neck and the first turn of the pipe. The rest of the pipe was still cool
(probably still had water in it)
When I took the seat off water from my glove dripped on the pipe, and you probably could have cooked a hot dog with all the steam that came off it. I'll
rip into it tomarrow or tuesday and post some pictures.
Bright side is: this was my first run with all 3 sets of reeds fresh, and WOW what a difference. Quite a bit more throttle response, and gained a few RPMs on
the top. A stage 2 RXP that I run into quite a bit at the lake, usually he takes me out of the hole by a boat length, but today stayed right with him, if not a
an inch ahead. Also I seem to have less engine noise from under the seat, don't know if its my imagination or not...
I had a water line come apart on mine today too. A few weeks ago one of the supply lines rubbed the motor moung and got a hole in it so I cut it and put a barb
fitting in. Well today 1 side decided to blow off, by the time I figured it out it had filled the hull to the coupler. Got it back on but had to do slow
circles till the water cleared out.
